Steve McClaren has voiced his disappointment at his sides performance in the 3-0 loss to Everton last night and has said that they have 'wasted' a game in their bid to avoid relegation.
“We have said you can’t waste a game now and that’s what we’ve done, we felt we could come here and get a result but we had to come here and perform at our level and there were a lot of players below that level and that is why we lost."
“Some of them know they have fallen short. That is not what we have come to expect and you can’t afford to do that with games ebbing away."
The defeat has left newcastle just 2 points from safety going into gameweek 25 and they can't afford another lamentable performance like the one we saw last night, for risk of being sucked back into the drop zone.
Newcastle should have been buoyed by their business in the January transfer window but injuries to new signing Saivet as well as defenders Dummett & Mbemba could undermine the good business they have done.
