Nemanja Vidic has raised questions over whether Ryan Giggs is the best choice to take the reigns at 'the biggest club in the world'.
Vidic retired this January and has expressed an interest in management, when asked specifically about the Manchester United job he's told BBC Sport it would be a dream but he himself 'is a long way' from that yet. His thoughts on the immediate appointment at Old Trafford however were much more of a talking point.
Vidic was full of praise Giggs but has said that he must have 'an honest' conversation with the United board about what he has learned under Van Gaal.
“I like the idea of Giggsy, but Mourinho has had success in the past,” the Serbian told BBC Sport.
“It’s a hard choice. Is Giggsy ready or not? He knows. The club knows. I believe they will have an honest conversation.
“I want someone who knows the club and does the best for the club. I shared a dressing room with (Giggs). I know he will do that.
“Mourinho plays football in a certain way, that is well known, but I definitely respect Mourinho as a manager. He is one of the greatest ever, along with Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson.”
